This Welcome week we’re collaborating with Melanin Markets to bring you an evening that celebrates vibrant Black-owned businesses, culture, and entertainment - right in the heart of campus. With over 50 stalls to explore, you’ll find everything from food & drink, to artwork, textiles, cosmetics and jewellery.

There’s almost too much to choose from, so it’s a good thing you don’t have to!

🎶On-stage

Our on-stage DJ will keep the tunes coming all night long.

Steel Drum soloist Zolatec will be performing a set full of dancehall, afrobeats, drill and more.

Certified Xtreme HipHop step instructor Kezia will be hosting an energy-filled demo and giving out discounts to her weekly classes.

 


 

🍴Hot Food

House of Habesha - authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian soul food. Accommodating all dietary requirements, House of Habesha provides fresh ingredients and quality taste, all served with a smile!

African Joy Food - providing something for every palate as they serve both African and English meals. Dishes range from plantain chips, to Jollof rice with chicken and stew, plus a variety of colourful salads and dressings - what more could you want.

Soka - the Uk’s first Indo-Caribbean fusion, you don’t want to miss your chance to try these tasty dishes.

RJ’s Cuisine - delicious and authentic African cuisine that will have your mouth-watering.

Opium - based in the heart of Manchester, Opium is a premium pre-mixed rum punch company that uses traditional methods, serving refreshing and authentic rum punch.

Miss Jackson’s Drink Co - run by two sisters based in south Manchester, this company provides delicious Caribbean inspired pre-mixed cocktails.

Bandari Ya Pombe - High quality, traditional Kenyan alcoholic beverages at a premium level.

Small Farmers Coffee Limited - 100% Certified Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, roasted and packed in the UK.

 


 

💍Jewellery

Rap Ringz - High quality, unique jewellery pieces and accessories for everyone. Products range from elegant earrings, necklaces, anklets and so much more.

 


 

🎨Art & Textiles

Vahekeny Rodrigues - based in Manchester, Rodrigues is a passionate textile designer and artist who uses vibrant colours in her work for interior markets, fashion and accessories. Her artistic direction and designs are often inspired by elements of nature, seen through photographs, hand drawings and digital printing.
