The Student Self Care Movement

The Student Self-Care Movement highlights that university isn’t just about your academic experience but how important personal development is as a student and that looks different for everyone.

What is it?

From the 18 - 22 November, as part of National Self Care Week, The Union hosted stalls and events across ours and the University's buildings relating to 5 different areas of personal development:

  • Emotional
  • Mental
  • Physical
  • Social
  • Professional

Write a Note to Self

This is a message, commitment or goal that you want to express to your future self, allowing you to reflect on your accomplishments, and it's so easy to get involved.

We'll then gather all of the Notes to Self we've receive and send them back to you guys during semester 2. You can then use this to compare and see how far you've come.

Note to Self

Step 1: Think of your note

What do you want to say to yourself? What would you like to achieve in the near future?

Your note to self can be anything you want to tell your future self.

Step 2: Submit

Use the Note to Self form to submit your thoughts to your future self from 18 November.

Step 3: Receive your note to self back

We'll gather all the notes we've received and send them back to you guys during semester 2.

Student Self Care Podcast

No single university journey is the same, no matter who you are or where you come from. The campaign launches with the Your Development Era podcast, with our students sharing their good, bad and ugly stories; but most importantly, how they overcame all of the challenges faced in their university journey.

Thank you

National Self-Care Week is the UK-wide annual awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities, families and generations.

The Union and our Wellbeing Officer, Gracie Otley, are proud to be running this campaign during National Self Care Week and would like to thank National Self Care Week and Manchester Met students for their support.
