As part of our welcome to The Union, we thought it was only right that we introduce our newest freshers to two of our favourite places on campus, The Salutation and Unit One.

The Salutation Pub: AKA The Sal🍻 

12 Higher Chatham St, Manchester M15 6ED 

 

One of Manchester's’ most historic pubs, The Sal has been around since the 1840s and has always provided a comfortable space for locals to meet up and grab a drink. 

With its cozy interiors and welcoming atmosphere, The Sal is the ideal place to wind down after a long day of lectures with friends or even enjoy the sun in the pub garden. 

But it doesn't stop there! The Sal is known for putting on its lively events, from quiz nights and live music, to book launches and art discussions, there really is something for everyone at this venue. 

It's the perfect spot to let loose, have a laugh, and maybe even get artistically inspired.  

So why not have a look at all the events they’ve got planned to welcome you to Manchester or even give them a cheeky follow. 

You can even book the room upstairs for a group study sesh, meetings or socials. Just give Derm a message! 

You can find The Sal nestled between the SODA building and The Union, on Boundary Street West. We promise it's hard to miss (just look for the pretty Victorian building!).

Unit One Cafe and Bar: Your Cozy Campus Corner ☕️ 

49 Stretford Road, Hulme, Manchester, M15 5JH 

 

Located just outside Manchester Met’s Brookes building, Unit One Cafe and Bar is the newest addition to Hulme. 

Their cozy interior makes it the perfect place to meet up with friends, get some work done and grab a bite to eat - come evening, an easy-going place to meet up for pizza and a few cheeky pre-drinks! 

And with free Wi-Fi provided, you can browse and scroll away all day long! 

Alongside their freshly brewed coffee, Unit One offers various delicious pastries, sandwiches, sweet treats and pizza in the evening. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free, there’s something for everyone. 

Unit One is for everyone to enjoy, student or not! So why not have a visit?
