Money Matters

We know that it's tough to be a student at the moment, particularly in Manchester, as the second most expensive city to live in the UK. We want to do something about the financial hardship faced by students at Manchester Met, that's why we're launching our Money Matters campaign.

What is it?

Money Matters focuses on four key areas: housing, getting more money in students' pockets, additional costs and access and participation. We'll aim to make sure our students' experiences and voices are heard for each of these core topics and take your stories to the University, advocating on your behalf.

Throughout the campaign, we'll let you know all the ways we need you to get involved. Keep an eye out in faculty buildings, on our socials, on email and right here on our website to make sure you've had your say.

The campaign

Housing

We're focusing on campaigns which reduce the cost of living in Manchester, such as renters' rights and obligations, rent controls and alternative housing schemes.

Money in students' pockets

We're planning events designed to help you with budgeting and ways to save money.

Additional costs

We're making sure there's transparency in the true cost of studying at Manchester Met and bringing real students' experiences to the forefront of discussions.

If you've incurred additional costs, we want to hear from you.

Access and Participation

We're aiming to amplify the voices of students who access APP funds through the University.
