The Union is the best building on campus. Okay, we just made that up and have no evidence to prove it but hear us out and we’ll share some of the ways we’re here to help you throughout your uni experience.

The Shop

Your go-to for student essentials. We’re stocked up with official Manchester Met merch, all the stationary you need to succeed and food to fill your fridge. We’ve got too much on offer to fit into a paragraph. From art supplies to protein powder, and from Chilly’s bottles to fajita kits – there really is something for everyone and we’d love for you to come and explore for yourself.

The Café

That’s right, there’s a Starbucks on campus and The Union is the place to find it! With hot food and a chilled atmosphere, this is your new favourite spot for coffee when you want to unwind, study, or connect whilst you’re at uni.

The Study

We’ve all experienced the pain of getting your work together and making your way up to your usual spot to realise that every seat is taken.

What you might not know, is that there’s multiple study spots across campus – including The Union.

Free to use whenever you want, The Study is a space for you to come alone or in your work group and just crack on. With tonnes of desk space, computers and printing facilities available, too.

The Studios

Even more space for you to book out. If you need somewhere for your club or society to practice your pole dancing or yoga moves, The Union’s got a choice of two studios for you to take advantage of.

Studio 1 on the first floor has got all the padded floor space you’ll ever need, and studio 2 on the second floor is ideal for larger groups, with enough mirror space for you to check out everyone else’s moves as well as your own.

Just submit your completed form to book a studio, it’s that simple.

Finance office (bus passes)

If you’re a commuter, or like to make the most of what this city has to offer, it’d be a good idea to get yourself a bus pass from the Finance Office.

All options are covered - you can get yourself a monthly, term time, or annual academic pass. So, go and explore your new home, or if Manchester is already your home, go and show it off to your new friends.

Bookable spaces

As well as The Study and studios, The Union’s got loads of other spaces and rooms you can book out for clubs and societies.

Rooms in The Union can be used as a meeting area for your gaming session, arts and crafts, debates and more. Complete and send us this form to get your club or society booked in.

Amazon lockers

There’s nothing worse than waiting around for that one Amazon parcel to arrive, only to miss it when you finally pop out.

The Union’s Amazon lockers have got you covered on that front. Located on the first floor, the lockers are there for you to use whenever you want, so you never have to miss a parcel again.

Advice Centre

The Union offers some of the best advice services available to students, with a fantastic team of specialist trained staff to help you.

The Advice Centre offers support in areas including housing, money, academic issues, sexual misconduct and more.

The centre provides a safe space for students to book into whenever they need. Whether you want to chat to someone on the phone, a video call, or visit in-person, everyone is welcome to get free and confidential support.

Student Officers

Our Student Officers are students selected by you to lead The Union's political direction, run campaigns on your behalf and hold the University to account on decisions that affect students.
