October is Black History Month.

It has been celebrated in the UK for 30 years, and is a time to recall black history, recognise and celebrate the people who fought and are still fighting for the rights of black communities, as well as celebrating blackness and black culture here and now.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors have put together a programme of events running throughout the month. Find out what's happening here.

Check out Hassan's blog on the upcoming workshop with NUS' Black Students' Officer Ilyas Nagdee on Monday 15 October.

Also, keep an eye on our Twitter – the  Ambassadors will be sharing an inspirational person of their choice each day. You'll also be able to spot some famous faces on our digital screens around the Union building.

You can find out about more things happening to celebrate in Manchester and the North West.
