At The Union, we’re always looking for ways to celebrate the incredible efforts of our Course Reps, and this semester is no exception. You might’ve heard that each semester we award one Course Rep from each faculty with our prestigious Course Rep of the Semester Award.

This award is all about shining a spotlight on those Course Reps who’ve truly gone above and beyond in their role. Whether it’s through demonstrating exceptional leadership, being proactive in addressing student concerns, or consistently relaying feedback to improve the student experience, these individuals have made a real difference.

But before we get to the exciting part—the winners—we want to thank all our Course Reps. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to supporting your peers doesn’t go unnoticed. You’re the voice of your course, and the impact you make is invaluable.

🔬Science and Engineering: Eloise Yates

It’s an absolute pleasure to recommend Eloise, whose outstanding performance as a Course Representative truly sets her apart. Eloise recently earned the well-deserved title of “Course Rep of the Semester,” and it’s easy to see why. Her dedication, professionalism, and proactive approach to representing her peers have made a tangible impact on the student experience.

During the recent Student Voice Meeting, Eloise stood out for her ability to “communicate feedback clearly and effectively,” offering “practical, actionable solutions” that benefited both her peers and the course as a whole. One standout moment was her thoughtful recognition of improvements in the CAF assessment briefs, which reassured first-year students about the course’s ongoing enhancements.

Her “approachable yet professional manner” has fostered a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere, as she worked closely with other course reps to ensure that everyone felt heard and valued. Eloise’s commitment to improving the student experience and her ability to inspire those around her make her a true credit to the BSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition course.

She’s a natural leader with a bright future ahead!

🎨Arts and Humanities: Callum Warren- Moore

Callum is an outstanding student leader whose dedication and professionalism have truly shone in their role as Course Representative. Their recent nomination and success as “Course Rep of the Semester” reflects their exceptional commitment to enhancing the student experience.

Callum has excelled in “gathering valuable feedback from their peers” and preparing thoroughly for key meetings like the Staff-Student Voice Meeting. Their ability to “represent student voices with clarity and professionalism” demonstrates strong leadership and a genuine dedication to fostering positive change.

Callum’s thoughtful and effective approach to this role has made a meaningful impact, and they are sure to continue excelling in all they do. It’s a pleasure to recommend someone with such a bright future ahead!

⚖️ Business and Law: Christian Yalamov

Christian is an exceptional Course Representative whose dedication, initiative, and professionalism have made a significant impact. His consistent efforts and innovative approach to the role have earned him well-deserved recognition.

Christian goes “above and beyond” in his duties, exemplified by his thoughtful actions like providing printed handouts of student feedback, creating a group chat to streamline communication among Course Reps, and sending out detailed reports and follow-ups after Student Voice Meetings. These initiatives have greatly enhanced collaboration and efficiency among his peers and staff.

As a returning course rep, Christian has also been highly engaged in leadership opportunities. He represented students at the Business Advisory Forum, where his “insightful feedback” and “strong clear communication skills” stood out, even in front of senior leaders like the Dean of the Business School. He has further demonstrated his commitment by attending RepConnect and taking proactive steps to address course-specific issues, including organising a meeting with Course Reps to tackle challenges in the Digital Strategy for Business Transformation module.

Christian’s blend of leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking makes him an invaluable advocate for students. He’s a natural leader with a bright future, and I’m confident he’ll excel in whatever he chooses to pursue!

🩺 Health and Education: Jules Hunter

Jules is an extraordinary Course Representative whose commitment, creativity, and leadership have earned them an incredible 18 nominations for Course Rep of the Semester. A worthy winner of the award for this semester. This recognition is a testament to their exceptional dedication to supporting their peers and improving the student experience.

Jules consistently goes above and beyond in their role. From creating tailored surveys and analysing feedback to presenting clear statistics and insights at Student Voice Meetings, Jules ensures their peers’ voices are heard with professionalism and precision. Their proactive approach to closing the feedback loop, whether through direct conversations during lectures or maintaining an active LinkedIn presence, exemplifies transparency and peer support.

Their efforts extend far beyond the classroom. Jules has logged significant volunteer hours, including their active participation at the Winter Warmer event, where their presence and support were invaluable. They’ve also been praised for their impactful delivery at the SVM, which sparked meaningful discussions and garnered recognition from programme leaders and the Head of Department.
