Students using a human operated 3D printer.

2nd year design student, Jamie Lee and Duggy have created a human 3D printer, which will be used for the first time this weekend. The device allows you to 3D print manually, rather than by using computers or electronic machines.

Jamie Wainman and their colleague.

The aim of the project is to bring together students who experience mental health difficulties to produce a creative piece. The project explores how arts and creativity play a role in supporting mental health. Mental health issues directly affect 1 in 4 people — this project promotes the need to unite and talk about the issues that impact so many of us.

You can see and use the printer for yourself on Saturday 23 Feb 11:00—14:00 at The Horsefall, 87-91 Great Ancoats Street. It will also be visiting The Union at a later date, so keep an eye out for updates.
