Moving to a whole new city can be scary, so for the students moving to Manchester, we've got you covered. Here’s a student’s guide to Manchester all in one place.
🚌 Buses
They run frequently taking you all over the city. It’s definitely worth getting a bus pass. Enquire at the finance office in The Union for termly and annual student passes.
🚃 Trams
These are great for cheap and quick journeys to places in Greater Manchester, our fave destinations are Altrincham and The Trafford Centre.
🚕 Uber/Bolt
Traditional Taxis are so 3 years ago. Uber and Bolt often do student deals for cheaper travel AND you can split the bill with friends in the app, no more chasing people for a couple quid.
🛒 Asda
Hulme Asda is just a 10-minute walk from campus and the majority of Manchester Met halls.
🏬Aldi/Lidl
A bus journey into the centre can save you a few pennies on your food shop.
🌃 Deansgate Locks
A selection of bars and clubs all in a row, they offer some good student deals throughout the year.
🕺🏻 Northern Quarter
Perfect place for bar crawling and day drinking, a slightly more expensive night out but makes up for it with the amazing atmosphere
💃 Spinning Fields
Here you’ll find some of the boujeest bars in Manchester, again slightly more expensive but always a great atmosphere, especially at the weekend.
🏳️🌈 Gay Village
A super fun, cheap night out. Drag shows, karaoke, comedy shows
🎊The Union Of course!
The Union, the best student drink deals and the perfect place for Pres on a Wednesday for socials.
👋The Union
There are opportunities to go to free or very cheap events hosted by The Union year-round, See What’s on at the moment.
🌳 Parks
There’s a long list of amazing parks to go to that are only a walk, bus or tram journey away. Check out our Insta for a guide to Manchester by bus.
