Write a note to your future self and check back in during Semester 2. Part of The Student Self Care Movement.
We’re so excited to reveal the winners of the Teaching Awards 2022. This year, we received 596 nominations across the nine categories so thank you so much to all of the students who submitted an entry.
All shortlisted candidates were invited to an in-person awards event to celebrate their achievements and we're so proud to present awards to those staff that have gone above and beyond for students at Manchester Met.
Here’s the Teaching Awards 2022 winners:
“Her commitment to giving ‘both sides of the story’ ensures that harmful stereotypes of individuals are dispelled. Ginette is such an inclusive, supportive tutor, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being taught by her on such a thought-provoking unit.”
“(I) really felt like she had all the time in the world for me (and I know other students felt like this too)… I am very grateful to her for being there for me throughout such a challenging and isolating year.”
“Her knowledge of sustainability and surrounding areas are all very fascinating and because of this, I have grown as an individual to take more action on lowering my carbon footprint.”
"She is not only a fantastic member of staff who always has an answer to every question, but a clear ray of sunshine both to all students and other members of staff who she works with."
“…during covid times, when research students (like me) are more isolated than usual… Knowing I have a supervisor who listens, understands, and actually cares has motivated me to push myself further.”
"They have been an inspiring and supportive supervisor. They have enabled me to push my boundaries and explore aspects within my research that I hadn't considered. They are incredibly patient, support and compassionate. I will always be indebted to them for the amazing experience I have had.”
“Staff go out of their way to make students the centre of attention of the course and provide them with numerous opportunities to demonstrate their abilities by providing a platform.”
“I would say their passion and dedication for what they do is second to none.”
“Outstanding care and commitment to the students, University and course. Showing excellence in their ability to not only teach verbally but also visually, providing for all learning needs.”
It is because the University pushed on against significant challenges to enable Law students, mathematicians, apprentices and those students who undertook placements in the NHS throughout the pandemic to have their closure that the Union Award 2022 goes to the Winter Graduations.
