The impact of drugs and alcohol at Uni: How we can help

Wednesday 29-11-2023 - 17:06

The Harm Reduction campaign is an initiative supported by our President, Ethan, and was created to help educate and aid students in a supportive manner - hoping to avoid stigmatising those who need help, and making you all feel confident with the knowledge you can comfortably seek the help you may need without judgement or fear of repercussions.

We have a member from Eclypse joining us in The Union’s Advice Centre every Monday to offer free advice and confidential, tailored support when it comes to drug and/or alcohol use.

These sessions could be the start of an amazing, positive change in your life or someone close to you. We want to make that first step as easy as possible - you don’t even have to book an appointment, you can just turn up!

Here’s everything you need to know:

📆 Date, Time & Location

Every Monday, 14:00 - 16:00.

The Union, Advice Centre (which you can find on the second floor of the building, but don’t worry, our reception team is always on hand if you need it).

❓ What is Eclypse?

Focusing on harm reduction and drug and alcohol use, Eclypse is a completely free support service for young people in Manchester. They offer professional, confidential and friendly advice, whether you wish to talk about your own experiences or perhaps you’re concerned about someone close to you.

Eclypse is part of CGL (Change Grow Live Charity) and are joining us at The Union on a weekly basis to help make seeking help and advice as easy as possible for our students.

🤔 What should I expect?

We know it can feel daunting to make that first step, and sometimes it’s easier to talk to a new, but friendly, face rather than someone close to you.

These sessions are open to everyone and are designed to be casual, comfortable and non-judgemental - there’s no need to book an appointment either, you can just pop in and see us on the second floor.

📚 The Advice Centre

We know uni life can be tough, that’s why our expert advisors are here every weekday to support you with any other problems you may be facing - everything from managing your finances, to academic misconduct and housing issues.

Pop in and see the team at The Union, book an in-person or online appointment, drop an email, or check out some of the helpful resources already available to you.
