Write a note to your future self and check back in during Semester 2. Part of The Student Self Care Movement.
Using this research, we have chosen to invite a top interior design agency SpaceInvader into the building and come up with brand new concepts for spaces including The Bar, Café, Reception, Hall and Study.
Your feedback told us the spaces would benefit from a warmer, cosier feel. You also asked for more colour and visuals to brighten up the areas along with improved softer furnishings.
The Bar
A comfortable space with varied options for seating and improved privacy. Lower ceiling fixtures using softer lighting and plants to give the space a warmer organic feel.
The Hall
A more inclusive space with areas for relaxing and meeting friends. Moveable furniture with additional spaces to eat lunch or study using partition walls for extra privacy.
The Café
A much cosier space with softer seating so you can sit and plug your laptop in with no rush to grab a coffee and move on.
The Reception
Using floor lighting and colourful seating options, you will be able to sit comfortably and use this area as a meeting spot between lectures.
The Study
Specialist desk and seating options for independent study and group work all within the same space using privacy dividers and soundproofing.
Keep checking in throughout the next few weeks as The Union building is transformed. Check out the concept artwork below to see where the inspiration for the spaces has come from.
We will be temporarily moving The Bar into The Hall whilst refurbishment is happening so don’t worry, you’ll still be able to enjoy great student food and drinks during this time.
