Write a note to your future self and check back in during Semester 2. Part of The Student Self Care Movement.
Whether you’re looking to try something new, have some self-care or start 2019 with a bang, here’s some (purse-friendly) ideas for January to welcome you back to campus.
Cheap eats – offers galore
If you want to treat yourself/spend your Christmas money/bulk up for the impending freezing weather, check out the epic list of restaurant deals on this month. There’s definitely something on there if you’re doing Veganuary too.
Enjoy Manchester Beer and Cider Festival
Ditching dry January? Over 200 breweries descend on Manchester Central at the end of the month bringing local and artisan beer and cider for you to try. Student tickets are available if you want to sample some of the different drinks – remember to enjoy responsibly and don’t ruin your life at the beginning of the year.
Visit the velodrome – HSBC National Track Championships
Don’t miss the chance to see some of the best from British Cycling, as Britain’s top Olympic and Paralympic heroes do battle with potential stars of the future for the right to wear the prestigious national champions' jerseys. Ticket prices for students range from £5 to £11, but they are selling fast. Even if you miss the races, it’s well worth a trip and only a tram ride away.
Check out PUSH Festival at HOME
For you arty types, head to the “annual celebration of the North West’s creative talents” with performances, networking and a chance to get inspired. Lots of the events and exhibitions are free, or you can use your student card for discounted tickets – check out the full guide for all the details.
Take a mindful moment – “And Breathe…” at Manchester Art Gallery
Aimed at promoting positive mental health and wellbeing, this exhibition is curated by mental health groups Start and Manchester Mind, as well as local primary school pupils. Perfect to take a break from student life and have a minute of peace.
All booked up – Indie Book Fair 2
Just sneaking into February, Manchester-based publisher Dostoyevsky Wannabe, brings back the Indie Book Fair at the Anthony Burgess Foundation, just round the corner from campus.
