Write a note to your future self and check back in during Semester 2. Part of The Student Self Care Movement.
Here at The Union, we thought we should introduce ourselves before you even step foot on campus, so you know what we can do to help you during your time at uni.
The Union is the best building on campus (although, we may be biased). It’s located just off Oxford Road next to the SODA building.
Across 3 floors, The Union offers a wide range of services designed to support you throughout your university experience. From a cafe to a professional Advice Centre, we’re here to help with whatever you need.
On every floor we have accessible toilets, water fountains and comfy spaces where you can have a break in between lectures.
Reception
Our reception team are always on hand to help you with any questions you have! There’ll always be a friendly face to point you in the right direction, or noticeboards to update you on events going on.
Comfy seats and chill music make it the ideal place to do some work, wind down, or even meet up with friends
Your go-to for student essentials. The Shop is stocked up with your fave snacks and drinks for refueling, including the cheapest meal deal on campus! They even sell the Japanese food brand Tanpopo- with delicious products like Sushi and Chicken Katsu Curry.
In need of some stationery? Well, they’ve got you covered, stocking a range of quality art supplies, notepads and colored notepads to help make reading easier.
Just in case you weren’t aware, it rains... a lot in Manchester. But don’t worry if you get caught out, the Shop also sells umbrellas (believe us, you’ll need one).
A little tip - The Shop at The Union is the only place where you can bag yourself some official Manchester Met merch, including clothing and accessories. And better yet, you can check out the online shop without leaving the comfort of your bed.
As you can tell, they’ve got too much on offer to fit into a paragraph. From art supplies and food to Chilly’s bottles that are cheaper than online- there really is something for everyone.
The Café
Your new favorite spot. In need of a coffee and snack? You're more than welcome to come and unwind, study, or connect at our very own cafe.
The Main Hall
Here is where most of our events take place, from bonkers bingo nights to performances from our very own societies.
Why not look at what Welcome Events we’ve got planned for you so far?
Finance Office
Whilst our finance team can’t directly assist with your uni finances, they can support student societies with financial matters when requests are made through the Advice Centre.
Amazon Lockers
There’s nothing worse than waiting around for that one Amazon parcel to arrive, only to miss it when you finally pop out.
The Union’s Amazon lockers have got you covered on that front. Located on the first floor, the lockers are there for you to use whenever you want, so you never have to miss a parcel again.
Studio 1
If you need somewhere for your club or society to practice your pole dancing or yoga moves, The Union’s got a choice of two studios for you to take advantage of.
Studio 1 on the first floor has got all the padded floor space you’ll ever need.
Studio 2 on the second floor is ideal for larger groups, with enough mirror space for you to check out everyone else’s moves as well as your own.

The Study
The Union has the best study spaces – yes, we said it.
