Write a note to your future self and check back in during Semester 2. Part of The Student Self Care Movement.
Familiar with that glowing red button at the front of the lecture theatre, or no idea what that little light means?
Manchester Met want to know what you think about lecture capture, and they've sent me, your Education Officer, on a mission to find out! I want your opinions so I can make sure your voice is heard when decisions are being made about the future of the system.
You’ve got until midday on Friday 14 December to tell me what you think.
The University has recently installed lecture capture equipment in most of the medium and large lecture theatres at the Manchester campus. Lecture capture records what your lecturers say and what’s on the projector, and makes it available for you to view on Moodle within two working days, meaning you can watch your lectures back whenever you want. I think it’s amazing that you can re-watch your lectures while writing notes at home. When it comes to revision time, assignments and sorting the work/life balance, this will be so useful.
Do all of your lecturers upload their captured content to Moodle? If not, why not? Do you have a learning difficulty and find recorded lectures really useful? Is lecture capture available in your lecture room? Have you even heard of lecture capture at all?
What happens next?
With the help of my survey sidekicks, we’ll be writing all of your comments into a report that I will take directly to the University, with recommendations for improvements along with feedback of what does and doesn’t work well. They will then use this report to inform where the project goes next. I want your lecturers to look at it, so they can better understand how you’re using the system and integrate it more into their teaching.
I can't do this without you.
I’m really excited to hear what you’ve got to say. Your opinions make a real difference, so please don’t hold back.
Love from your Education Officer,
Lucy
