We know that uni life can come with its ups and downs; we do everything in our power to support you through all the highs, and particularly the lows, you may face throughout your studies.
Possibly one of the biggest issues many of you face is the financial burdens that come from uni life - from managing your student loan and finding part-time work, to budgeting for your bills, doing a weekly food shop, paying for transport, and still making sure you have enough to socialise and truly enjoy your uni experience.
Sometimes you just want a quick and easy answer, so here’s some little tips and advice based on our most frequently asked financial questions.
Budgeting is key for your student loan. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, just take a minute to think about your income and your outgoings and see what the next steps are.
If you’re struggling to wrap your head around this, or it seems a bit daunting, you can visit the Advice Centre or check out all our useful info on debt and budgeting.
Applying for student finance can feel like a big and sometimes confusing task in itself. If you’re having any issues with your application, our team in the Advice Centre are here to help. Some ways we can help include:
+ Looking through your assessment to make sure it’s correct
+ Helping with any appeals or complaints
+ If your household income has changed, we can help with a current year assessment
Consider looking into the university’s support funds, hardship schemes, or see what scholarships they have available.
You may also want to consider looking for part-time work to bring in a larger income. If this worries you or you feel like you need some additional guidance, come and chat with our advisor.
