"An illustrated recreation of the John William Waterhouse painting,1893. The title 'La belle femme sans merci', alongside other paintings like it, were inspired and named after the John Keats poem of the same title. These artists mainly featured the Fairy of the Forest's seduction of the courtly Knight in their paintings, leading to the Knight's demise.

These paintings can be said to be early examples of the 'femme fatale' character, with them making a large appearance in various media forms across Medieval Europe. However, these stories' focus was to portray the "dangers" of women's sexuality. I've always loved these classical pieces, and have always wanted to recreate one to see my own identity in. The piece features two non-binary lesbians in a Butch/Femme dynamic, celebrating queer love and sexuality."
