This event has expired or is no longer available.
🎥 Join us at The Union for an inspiring evening centred around Weave (2023), a powerful, BAFTA-nominated short film that has captivated audiences at 13 film festivals across three continents.
We’ll deep dive into the themes of Black mental health, Black hair, self-love, and the journey to acceptance, all through the lens of Afro-Caribbean culture and community🫶
✨What to Expect:
we’ll be kicking off the evening at 17:00 with the panel featuring Nigel (Co-Writer), Martyn (Director), and the talented production team behind Weave.
During this you’ll gain exclusive insights into the creative process, the challenges of navigating the industry as Black creatives, and the film’s mission to bridge the gap between entertainment and education.
At 17:45 , you’ll get to engage directly with the minds behind Weave. Ask questions, hear their stories, and learn about their journey in bringing this impactful film to life.
From 18:15, enjoy free Caribbean food while mingling with fellow creatives, film enthusiasts, and the talented Weave team in an informal and welcoming atmosphere.
💡 The Director’s Vision: “My vision for Weave was to bridge the gap between entertaining and educating the broader society on issues that happen daily to the African Caribbean community.”
