Islamic Society

Assalamu Alaykum!
Welcome to the Islamic Society!

We are the largest and most active student-run organisation on campus, dedicated to serving the spiritual, academic, and social needs of our students.

Nearly 1/3 of students at this University are Muslim, making this one of the most diverse campuses in the UK.

Our primary goal is to support the Muslim community by providing a clean and functional prayer facility, hosting educational, social, and charitable events, and promoting a deeper understanding of Islam to non-Muslims. We strive to be the representative voice for Muslim students, ensuring their needs and concerns are heard and addressed.

We believe in unity and inclusivity, welcoming everyone regardless of age, gender, ability, race, nationality, or sect. Whether you're a Muslim, curious about Islam, or simply looking for a friendly face, we invite you to join us and be part of something wonderful!

Join us and experience the warmth, diversity, and vibrant community of the Islamic Society!

Want to create your own society?

Had a search through all our societies and can’t find the one you’re looking for? Why not set it up yourself!

It’s really easy and we’re here to support you throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Some societies are free to join, whilst others may have a small fee of around £5 to £10 for the whole year.

Your joining fees are then used to cover the running of the society (sometimes there’ll be extra costs if the society offers classes, special events or trips).

Any questions? Drop the society a message or speak to us.

Current Manchester Met students are welcome to join our societies all year round.

Freshers Fair is a particularly great opportunity for you to meet and join our societies in person.

For existing societies, committee members are chosen by members of the society through an online election. Elections take place in March ready for the upcoming academic year, and the role of committee member runs from July to June.

For new societies, the founding members choose their committee to get started.

Fill out this booking form, giving at least one week’s notice to ensure the room is secured. You can request any bookable space in The Union or the University, but first make sure to check the building’s opening hours.

You should definitely wait for confirmation of your booking before spreading the word to your society members.
