About us:

Welcome to the Manchester Law School Law Society! We are proud winners of the Best Academic Society and we are one of the largest societies at MMU. But it’s not all about careers! We also host fun and engaging socials to help students meet like-minded individuals and build a vibrant community. From daytime socials like murder mystery to nighttime socials like Junkyard Golfing, we aim to offer the best student experience at MMU. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their background or field of study!

We had an incredible year and will continue emphasising the social aspect of our society – it’s in our name, after all! We will host socials every other week filled with fun, games and surprises at various venues! Furthermore, we will have at least two BIG events in each semester, allowing you to take a break from studying and have fun!

We have an exciting lineup of trips and events planned for the year! Here are a few to look forward to:

  • The London Trip to the Supreme Court
  • Winter Wonderland
  • The Networking Dinner

Annual Law Ball:

Every year, we celebrate the success of our law school and its students with the Annual Law Ball. It is an amazing opportunity to dress up, have fun and spend time with friends and the members of our community! After the success of our 2024, we have the necessary feedback and resources to host the biggest and best ball yet!

Plus, members get discounted tickets!

It’s really easy and we’re here to support you throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Some societies are free to join, whilst others may have a small fee of around £5 to £10 for the whole year.

Your joining fees are then used to cover the running of the society (sometimes there’ll be extra costs if the society offers classes, special events or trips).

Any questions? Drop the society a message or speak to us.

Current Manchester Met students are welcome to join our societies all year round.

Freshers Fair is a particularly great opportunity for you to meet and join our societies in person.

For existing societies, committee members are chosen by members of the society through an online election. Elections take place in March ready for the upcoming academic year, and the role of committee member runs from July to June.

For new societies, the founding members choose their committee to get started.
