Onstage is MMU’s Musical Theatre Society, established in September 2021. We are a fun society for musical theatre lovers to get together, enthuse over our favourite musicals, and sing to our hearts content.

Since the curtain opened for Onstage, we have held countless sessions and socials, 4 performance events, won the award for ‘Best New Society 2021-22’, and this year we have over 40 members (and still growing!).

Our most recent performance, ‘An Evening with Onstage’, saw 13 of our members singing their favourite musical theatre songs to an audience of friends, family, and other society members. Here’s what some of our members had to say:

All this time has been building up to Onstage’s biggest feat so far… ‘Carrie the Musical’. Onstage’s previous performances have been relaxed concerts and showcases, however in February 2023 we will be performing a full-scale musical over 3 performances, and have been working hard towards this since October. The production is 100% led by our members, giving people an opportunity to try out and develop their skills in directing, choreography, stage management, singing, dancing and acting.
