The Web of Production is a vibrant and dynamic society, dedicated to fostering a creative community and nurturing the talents of students interested in the world of filmmaking. Our society serves as a nexus that connects individuals with a passion for creativity, cinema, and storytelling, providing a platform where their dreams can come to life.
Purpose:
Our society's primary mission is to bridge the gap between creatives, especially those with an interest in filmmaking, by offering a diverse range of activities and opportunities. We strive to:
Link Creative Minds:
The Web of Production aims to bring together students from various disciplines who share a love for filmmaking. We believe that collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas are key to unlocking fresh perspectives and innovative projects.
Student-Led Films:
We actively encourage and facilitate the production of short films, spearheaded by students. These projects allow members to gain hands-on experience, develop their skills, and showcase their creativity to a broader audience.
Educational Support:
For non-film students interested in the art of filmmaking, we provide learning resources, workshops, and mentorship to help them explore and expand their knowledge of the craft.
Networking:
The society hosts networking events, screenings, and discussions where members can interact with industry professionals, creating valuable connections and gaining insights into the world of creative arts.
Social Events:
We understand that socializing is a crucial aspect of the creative process. Our society organizes various social events, film-themed parties, and outings to foster a sense of community and friendship among members.
Supportive Community:
The Web of Production is more than just a society; it's a supportive community where members can exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and find like-minded individuals who share their passion.
Networking Site:
We are currently developing our own social media platform purely for networking purposes free for all students in manchester.
Had a search through all our societies and can’t find the one you’re looking for? Why not set it up yourself!
It’s really easy and we’re here to support you throughout.
Some societies are free to join, whilst others may have a small fee of around £5 to £10 for the whole year.
Your joining fees are then used to cover the running of the society (sometimes there’ll be extra costs if the society offers classes, special events or trips).
Any questions? Drop the society a message or speak to us.
Current Manchester Met students are welcome to join our societies all year round.
Freshers Fair is a particularly great opportunity for you to meet and join our societies in person.
For existing societies, committee members are chosen by members of the society through an online election. Elections take place in March ready for the upcoming academic year, and the role of committee member runs from July to June.
For new societies, the founding members choose their committee to get started.
