House rules

Our rules

The Union’s digital spaces exist for 38,000 students at Manchester Met to connect, catch up on the latest news, find out about events and share thoughts and ideas.

We welcome open, friendly, and honest conversation, but we also want every person in these spaces to feel comfortable; that’s why we have house rules.

We reserve the right to remove comments that:

  • Are discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable
  • Contain language likely to offend or provoke an attack, like swear words
  • Could break the law or condone or encourage unlawful activity or endanger the safety and wellbeing of others
  • Advertise products or services for profit or gain
  • Are seen to impersonate someone else
  • Are considered likely to be false, fraudulent or misleading
  • Include contact details such as phone numbers, postal or email addresses
  • Are written in anything other than English
  • Are considered to be 'spam' (posts containing the same message posted multiple times)
  • Are repeatedly off-topic for the blog, discussion or site to which you are posting

Codes of conduct

Please remember you must also comply with The Union’s Membership Code of Conduct and the terms of the site you are on.

We keep a close eye on all our digital spaces, but there are times when we won’t be there.
