ROLE DESCRIPTION.

This creative videographer Director/Producer volunteering role, initially encompasses the creation of video based cooperate promotion. This being in highlighting Outreach services, its role, remit, aims and objective, allied to promoting greater awareness of Outreach spaces, recruitment and opportunity via the vehicle of videography. With the very real possibility of further creative ventures.

 

SUITABLE FOR.

An experienced videographer director and producer (including post production) who wishes to take advantage of a fantastic opportunity to volunteer with Outreach in demonstrating to the world and beyond, their skills and creativity. This role, would particularly suit a creative person in both spoken word and image perhaps from a traditional media background. Equally, the role may be an opportunity to be involved with a highly regarded not for profit charity in building up a portfolio in relation to a future film maker, v-logging advertising, media, and/or photo journalism career.

Tasks may include as appropriate and/or directed:

  • Liaising and consulting with Outreach staff, exec, and service users in creating content.
  • The ability to read and work with existing story boards and concepts
  • Ensuring positive Outreach video messaging.
  • Developing a consistent and ongoing Outreach “video” look.
  • Having an “idea friendly” approach, in developing video content. .
  • Respecting and adhering to Outreach policies and procedures, I.e. data protection.
  • Responding objectively to feedback.

WHEN REQUIRED. (Flexible)    (Dependant on your timeframe to completion)

Timeframes will be negotiated based upon Outreach need and personal availability, this will also be a factor in creating new content over and above what is currently envisaged at this time.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES.

As with all Outreach volunteers, it is essential that they have a positive outlook and approach towards Outreach service users and staff.  Above all else Outreach volunteers should be person-centred, non-judgemental, professional, empowering, warm, friendly and empathic.

In terms of specific qualities, skills, attributes and personality; a Newsletter producer/draft editor should; or should be:

  • Fully conversant with videography.
  • Have the necessary skills in all aspects of videography.
  • Have a professional attitude in creating content.
  • Have the knowledge and skills in post-production.
  • Able to keep with the brief
  • Able to convey creative alternatives
  • Willing to work with a diverse variety of people (i.e. as extras)
  • Have a genuine and positive interest in mental health and learning difficulties.
  • Be fully competent and self-sufficient in using IT.
  • Have the ability to act on own initiative, and work as part of a team..
  • Have good listening and communication skills.
  • Willing to accept and work with constructive feedback 
  • Friendly and approachable. 
  • Organised and have excellent time management skills.
  • Have a high level of pride in their work.
  • Open to seeing their volunteer video graphic creativity as an excellent stepping stone in the creating of a portfolio of “work”
