Student Officer Elections 2025: Nominations are now open, get yourself in the running.
Age UK Manchester have recently opened an upcycling studio in Didsbury Village, called Re.Mark. This project takes waste materials donated to our charity shops, and upcycles them into new pieces to be sold back through our shops, and online. We also host workshops and pop-up shops at various locations across Manchester.
The pieces we upcycle are mainly furniture, clothing, accessories, and some homeware / electrical items. We are keen to recruit more volunteers for our studio, particulary students who are interested in sustainable fashion, textile upcycling, upholstery, painting, and other sustainable crafts.
Our studio has a range of equipment and materials needed for upcycling furniture and textiles. Volunteers just need to bring their imagination!
We are currently recruiting our next group of volunteers for our upcycling studio in Didsbury village. Join our team to develop your creative skills, using waste material to upcycle clothes and furniture for resale in our Charity Shops. We are looking to hire volunteers who are studying in the relevant areas (art & design, fashion, textiles, etc.) to join our team and create new pieces and collections.
We have trained staff and all the materials and equipment needed. Volunteers would be welcomed on 1 or 2 days a week initially, for a fixed period. Travel and lunch costs will also be reimbursed.
Minimum commitment level: Once a week
